I am honored to have three drawings selected for inclusion in “The Infinite Undoing” exhibition co-curated by Things Feel Heavy and Galleri 2987.

The Infinite Undoing is a gallery show about ‘letting go’; the ways in which we let go, that which we hold onto, our inability to let go and its resulting affect, and the absolution in the act itself. The show, which includes 49 works of art runs from Friday, April 13 through Friday, April 27, 2018 at Galleri 2987 on Detroit’s riverfront.

Following are the selected drawings along with their Artist Statements:

Measuring the Distance Between Flowers and Thorns by David Hile

“Measuring the Distance Between Flowers and Thorns”
Flowers and thorns – blessing and curse – make up the substance of our lives. Do we choose to view our life as filled with beauty and joy (with inevitable challenges), or through anger and depression, interrupted by a rare ray of fleeting happiness?

Tribulation drawing by David Hile

“Tribulation”
We have all experienced hardship and loss, which can sometimes feel devastating and drive us to our knees. With one hand we clench a fist in anger, while the other hand remains open signifying resignation and possible acceptance.

Morning Rendezvous drawing by David Hile

“Morning Rendezvous”
Open handed, we share our lives and the gifts we offer with the world around us.

Galleri 2987 is located at 2987 Franklin Street, Detroit, MI 48207.
